Master filmmaker Werner Herzog explores the life and gruesome death of amateur grizzly bear expert and wildlife preservationist Timothy Treadwell, through footage shot by Treadwell himself. A powerful and cautionary tale about modern man’s attachment to nature, it follows Treadwell’s annual journeys to Alaska where he lived amongst the grizzlies. His crusade to protect the wild grizzly bear ended tragically when he and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were attacked and killed by a rogue grizzly in October 2003. Ultimately, Herzog paints a compelling portrait of one man's mania, and his unpredictable relationship with the creatures he swore unswerving allegiance to, through a gripping and epic adventure story in the tradition of Jon Krakauer’s classic Into Thin Air.
