It's that time of year again! Top Ten Time! We've dug through the last twelve months of anime goodness and would like to share the ten titles we thought captured the interest of fans the most, which we've listed below.

Smart and dark. Death Note fever was everywhere in 2008, from L, Ryuk and Misa cosplayers at conventions to thrilling new viewers at home on ABC2.

You can't go wrong with a solid injection of bullet ballet, thanks to the updated animation and awesome John Woo influenced action of Appleseed!
VEXILLE
The perfect counterpart to Appleseed, with superb CG animation, a more considered plot, the discerning sci-fi fan found plenty to enjoy in this cautionary future tale.
BLACK LAGOON
Fans of all time classic Cowboy Bebop found a new home in this stylish, snappy action adventure as a meek salaryman gets the hang of dangerous espionage with a wicked, sexy, twin-pistol-packing partner Revy "Two Hands".
SHAKUGAN NO SHANA
When poor Yuji gets in the way of Shana's sword, little did he realise it was just the beginning! The Flame Haze burned a trail to plenty of fans' hearts, male and female viewers alike.
CLAMP DOUBLE FEATURE: xxxHOLiC THE MOVIE - A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM / TSUBASA CHRONICLES MOVIE: THE PRINCESS IN BIRDCAGE KINGDOM
One long title, two wonderful anime adventures! The artists of CLAMP brought us a real treat with these two intersecting stories from the worlds of TSUBASA and xxxHOLIC
MIND GAME
The joys of experiencing the incredible experimental animation of Studio 4C abound in this truly surreal experience. An absolute must see for film buffs and anime fans alike.
CODE GEASS: LELOUCH OF THE REBELLION
Like Death Note, Code Geass has an amazing hook that has viewers asking themselves "what would I do?" Lelouch discovers an incredible power and the resistance against the all conquering Empire of Britannia begins!
THE WALLFLOWER
One scary goth girl who due to a tragic event has sworn off all beauty, now has to endure living with four incredible beautiful boys whose mission is to make her a fine young lady, or face eviction! Hilarious crazy capers from the director of Excel Saga hit the bizarre comedy spot nicely.
THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA
The anime phenomenon that must not be missed is now collected! Get roped into Haruhi's insane search for aliens, time travellers and ESPers, and in your own search for the extraordinary, you may even join in on a Haruhi dance.
