After Shohoku’s defeat by Kainan in the league round, Sakuragi and the team brace themselves to face Takezato and Ryonan. Their real obstacle is Ryonan, whom they must beat to get to the Interhigh Championships. But our hero soon finds he has a problem – besides slam dunks and lay-ups, Sakuragi can’t shoot! Sakuragi’s special training begins, and meanwhile, Kainan and Ryonan square off in the league round. Kainan are the favourites to win, but Ryonan’s Coach Taoka has one trick up his sleeve…
