MELBOURNE, Thursday, 06 April, 2006 – Originally introduced in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga anthology (which has a weekly circulation of three million), ONE PIECE follows the high-seas adventures of Monkey D. Luffy - a brave young captain who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates!
It is the Great Age of Piracy, with countless pirates competing to rule the seas and discover One Piece, the legendary pirate Gold Roger’s greatest treasure.
When he's captured by a band of pirates, Luffy escapes to a naval base ruled by an evil captain. There he saves the famous swordsman Zolo from execution, in exchange for joining his crew... Now the real adventure begins!
ONE PIECE already boasts over 260 TV episodes, 34 graphic novels, 7 feature length movies, 8 video games (with one already available in Australia for the Sony PS2) and a mountain of merchandise! ONE PIECE is now supported by more than 70 licensees all over the world - producing toys (coming soon from Mattel), games, apparel, stationery, home furnishings, collectibles and more.
ONE PIECE is currently screening during kids’ prime-time at 7.30am each weekday on Channel 10’s ‘Toasted TV’ and has been a consistent favourite in Cartoon Network’s ‘Toonami’ program since it began airing in May, 2005.
The first of thirteen planned volumes, each release is a kids-friendly $19.95, with volume 1 and 2 coming with bonus value-adds for a limited time.
