The Australian feature film NOISE will have it World Premiere at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. NOISE is written and directed by Matthew Saville and produced by Trevor Blainey, with Brendan Cowell (Love My Way) in the lead role of Graham McGahan. Madman Cinema’s newest acquisition THIS IS ENGLAND has picked up two awards at the ninth British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs). What a big weekend it’s been for KENNY. KENNY is now sitting at number 28 on the Top Australian Films list, just below RABBIT PROOF FENCE and THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER II. KENNY took home a bevy of awards at Friday nights IF ceremony, including Best Feature Film (ahead of stiff competition from TEN CANOES and SUBURBAN MAYHEM), Best Script, Best Sound and Best Box Office Achievement (go Madman Cinema team!!).

Madman Cinema is pleased to announce the acquisition of all Australian and New Zealand rights for the controversial American documentary, JESUS CAMP to be released in theatres in 2007. Directed by award winning filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (Boys of Baraka) the film follows Levi, Rachael, and Tory to Pastor Becky Fischer’s “Kids on Fire” summer camp in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota where children as young as six are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in “God’s army.” It is a first-ever look into an intense training ground that recruits born-again Christian children to become an active part of America’s political future. Melbourne was the place to be on Halloween as Madman celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a special screening of Fullmetal Alchemist The Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa with voice-actor guests, Vic Mignogna (FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST,) and Crispin Freeman (HELLSING,) in attendance. With over 200 people at the packed event the night was capped off with a Q&A and autograph session with the guests, not to mention a giant birthday cake. A special pre-launch event as part of the National Gallery of Victoria’s Tezuka Marvel of Manga exhibit, the night was a fun filled success.
