Fanzone Art Comp Winners: POKEMON PARTY!

POKEMON Manga has just launched! That means it’s time to grab your Pokeballs, consult your Pokedex, and go Pocket Monster Maniacal with your own Pokemon in this month’s art competition!  We asked artists to draw their favourite Pokemon, create their own, or turn anime characters into Pokemon!

Read on for our winners and honorable mentions!

Winner

The Forsaken Pokemon by Vron89

In a tough choice between the top entries, Vron89’s rendition of Guts from Berserk as a Pokemon ticked all the boxes! Not only is he wonderfully reimagined as a Pokemon, you also get to see multiple evolved forms of Guts, which parallels different phases of his story in the anime and manga, culminating in the Berserker armour wearing GUTSERKER. Amazing stuff, and a cool touch to have a complimentary Pocket Monster version of Puck the fairy too!

vron89 wins 1st prize of a $150 Madman store voucher!

Second Place

PKMN Trainer Kakashi Wants to Battle by Bijoux

Superb! It’s the classic Naruto Team 7 as Pokemon!  Excellent use of the existing character relationships of Kakashi as teacher, transposed into the Pokemon-trainer and his favourite three Pokemon! Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura are completely recognisable as Pokemon. The character correct colour, uniqe details, and beautiful background all hit the right notes. What a team!

Bijoux wins 2nd prize of a $100 Madman store voucher!

Third Place

A Pokemon of Saiyan Proportions by Corad

Love a good size chart.  Tapping into the simian source of Saiyanism, Corad has nailed Goku as a Pokemon.  Another good example of displaying the Pokemon progression of the character, this is a fantastic creative interpretation.

Corad wins 3rd prize of a $75 Madman store voucher!

Fourth Place

My Neighbour Snorlax by Big Unit

BigUnit once again proves to be an impressive art-concept machine!  This was just one of many favourites – we couldn’t go past the Poke-perfect (re)presentation of Totoro as Pokemon, but you should definitely also check out these other fine entries: Pokemoon, Some Kind Of Pocket Monster, Tachisaur, Poke-Jutsu, That Takes Guts!

BigUnit wins 4th prize of a $50 Madman store voucher!
