The EVA cafe opened in Harajuku recently and Sly had the chance to visit this awesome Art Gallery / Cafe / Store. Here is an exclusive tour of the cafe.
Hosted at the CLUH Art Gallery and cafe between July 25 and running until September 8th, 2011, this place is a savvy EVA fan’s dream come to life and true hipster hang out. Perched above the Meiji Dori (the main street that connects Harajuku and Shibuya) the cafe has a nice quiet atmosphere about it.
One of the special features of the cafe is the limited menu that is on offer with food and drinks based on the EVANGELION franchise. I took the oppurtunity to try out a drink based on Unit 02 (my favourite). It was indeed delcious and refreshing, especially so in the hot Tokyo summer. Other items on the menu include EVA themed pastas and also deserts, including a “Roll Cake” with an imprint of an Angel’s face on it.
The cafe also doubles as an art gallery and features many original artwork pieces based on EVANGELION and is definitely something special.
The Cafe/Gallery also features a special EVA STORE with original goods that can only be purchased at this store and also features a lot of boutique EVANGELION collaboration goods. A brand new EVA store is expected to open nearby from October.
If you are going to Japan before September 8th, I highly recommend visiting this hip little place.
