If your European trip has been cancelled, then good news my pasty friend! You can go on a virtual summer holiday with THE TRIP TO GREECE.
Look, honestly, I know it’s not the same as the experience of dancing on tabletops in Mykonos with Lindsey Lohan, but it is as close as you can get for the foreseeable future. The latest addition to the Trip Series, starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, is going to give you all the nostalgic feels for sun on your skin and salt in the air. While you are trapped in your home. Cold, alone and in need of a cuddle.
To make the Euro-trip experience as authentic as possible, let’s look back at the whole Trip Series and eat delicious takeaway while you watch each film.
Let’s go back to where it all started. Two friends, one week, six restaurants and the journey of a lifetime around the Lake District in the North of England. Now, I know that English food can be un-sexy, but you can’t deny the appeal of a good Sunday Roast. So we have found some great options for you.
Melbourne: The Post Office Hotel’s roast dinners are pretty impossible to pass up. Check out their menu here.
Sydney: The Oxford Tavern is the shiz. Honestly, just order the whole menu here.
Adelaide: I have no idea about roast spots in Adelaide. I found the Earl of Leicester Hotel on Google, and it has high reviews, so hit us up and let us know if they are good, or if I am totally off the mark. You can find their menu here.
THE TRIP TO ITALY
Anyone for seconds? THE TRIP TO ITALY sees Steve and Rob on a whirlwind culinary road trip in Italy. Honestly, just back up the truck with all the carbs. I’ll fight anyone who says they don’t like pasta.
Melbourne: The legendary Italian chef, Guy Grossi, is doing take home meals. Sound the alarm! 🚨 Check out the menu here.
Sydney: Bondi’s famous Italian restaurant, Cicciabella, is now doing takeaway home packs. You can order from the menu here.
Gold Coast: Gemelli’s pizza is freaking delicious. They are still doing take away, and they have a few different locations you can hit up. Phone in or place orders online via their website here.
THE TRIP TO SPAIN
Join Steve and Rob on a hilarious road trip through Spain — visiting Cantabria, the Basque region, Aragon, Rioja, Castile La Mancha and ending in Andalucia. Let’s get things spicy with a delicious Spanish feast! Tapas is so small that it is basically a snack, so there is always room for dessert.
Melbourne: Movida is synonymous with Spanish food in Melbourne. Their team have opened up their kitchens and are delivering a box packed full of ready to eat provisions every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Order your goodies here.
Bonus for Melbourne: Hit up Casa Iberica for delicious pantry staples here.
Sydney: Mercado is currently doing special take home packs, so you can enjoy their delicious meals in your food stained trakkies. Check out their menu here.
Perth: Pinchos, which just happens to be right near one of our favourite cinemas in WA (Luna Leederville), is open for takeaway AND limited dine in bookings. Check them out here.
THE TRIP TO GREECE
In their fourth and final gastronomic expedition, Steve and Rob head to Greece to retrace the steps of legendary king Odysseus, the hero of Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, on his journey home to Ithaca at the end of the Trojan War.
Spanakopita is full of spinach, so it is basically like eating a salad, right?
Melbourne: Bahari is well known for it’s fancy Greek food, which gives you an excuse to put on real clothes and get fancy at home. Their menu is purely takeaway right now, so check it out here.
Another bonus for Melbourne (can you tell where we are based?): Greek Street Food is a well-known food truck that turned into a physical location. They are firing up the truck, and they are also offering take away from their shop. Check their website for updates.
Sydney: Medusa Greek Meze melds traditional Hellenic cuisine with an Aussie twist. Looks like these guys are back open for limited dine in and takeaway. Check out the menu here.
Hobart: Urban Greek is doing takeaway. Kalimera! Enjoy traditional Cretan cuisine at home, plus you can dine in again from June 15. Their full menu is here.
Righto, I’m off to raid my fridge now.
