ONWARDS TO THE FINAL DESTINATION!

The Madman National Cosplay Championship 2010 has hit fever pitch! With all of the preliminary rounds now over we have chosen the best of the best to compete in the Grand Final in November. Here’s a quick recap of the finalists selected at each of the rounds.

Brisbane
Zimiel

With a dramatic rendition of Fai from Tsubasa Chronicle, Shona wowed the audience and the judges in a very tough round of the Madman National Cosplay Championship.

Melbourne
Siera

Featuring a playful and audience engaging role as Sora from Kaleido Star, Siera took audiences to the circus, with acrobatic moves and fancy displays, the 2009 runner up will be back in the spotlight of the November finals again in 2010.

Sydney
Kenny & Tsubaki

kenny1

A tough contest, this was by far the biggest field we’ve ever had at the Madman National Cosplay Championship and it was extremely tough to judge. However, with some excellent use of props as well as extremely well crafted costumes, our first team to qualify for the finals comes from Sydney.

Perth
Twinklee & Vel’ithya

A very young field contested the Perth spot and we loved the enthusiasm of the many first time cosplayers that Perth had on offer. In the end though, the 3rd place winner of the 2009 series returned with a strong performance together with a partner this year too, performing a comedy crack skit as characters from Final Fantasy XIII

Adelaide
Yiji

The final round rolled into AVCON with lots of teams coming in from interstate to compete for the final spot. In the end, it was Melbourne cosplayer Yiji who took out the honours as Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess. With an amazing skit that featured self made animation and great seamstress work, Yiji pulled off a great display to wow Adelaide audiences.

ENTER THE WILD CARDS

Not to be outdone though, we have quite a tough field of competitors at this year’s many qualifiers. So much so that we are happy to announce that there will be three more additions to the Grand Final in November. Let’s meet them.

Wild Card 1
Will (Ameno Kitarou)

Having tried to qualify TWICE this year Will put on a couple of amazing performances as both Snow from Final Fantasy XIII (complete with Shiva Bike) and also as Griffith from Berserk (complete with pool of blood!).

Wild Card 2
Anna

Long time cosplayer but first time competitor at the MNCC, Anna showed us just how to work an audience and also the importance of comedic timing, pulling off an amazing skit as Kefka from Final Fantasy Dissidia.

Wild Card 3
Carly

carly1

A first time cosplayer, Carly showed amazing potential and talent as Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII. Carly will be the sole South Australian representative but we see her as a big dark horse at the main event.
