New Acquisitions Announcements

Hi everyone!

As you know we were at WAI-CON over the weekend and made some announcements at our panel on Sunday. Here’s a summary of the new titles that will be released in the coming months.

The year is 1944 and the world lives in fear of unidentified flying objects called Neuroi. With the old-boy old guard unable to thwart this deadly menace, humanity turns its desperate eyes to an aerial attack force with much nicer legs. Meet the girls of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, better known as the Strike Witches. These darlings of the great blue yonder may not have standard issue uniforms, but they do have all the right stuff. Where the average flyboy falters, these dolls blast aliens to bits in the bat of an eyelash. With a little magic and a whole lot of leg, the girls of the 501st are winning the war on pants, and aliens!

The movie sequel to the second season of Haruhi will finally be available in Australia! We are hoping to do a one night only event in cinemas, followed by a home DVD/Blu-Ray release in 2011. Stay tuned for more details.

The original giant robot anime that helped to define an entire generation of phenomenal shows. The very first Gundam series will finally be available in a bilingual format and will be released as two collections in 2011.

From the first Gundam, to the newest Gundam. Also set  in the Universal Century timeline, Gundam Unicorn will be released on DVD later in the year. The latest Gundam series pits the prototype Unicorn Gundam up against someone who looks just like the Red Comet Char Aznable. Will the Zeon rise from the ashes once again?

The world of tomorrow is an arid wasteland; a forsaken place where nomadic communities take shelter within mobile, domed cities. Massive, mutant Contaminoid monsters swarm the planet’s desolate surface, and the lack of resources fuels constant conflict between cities.

In this bleak future, mysterious young Layfon struggles to escape his violent past. Unfortunately, his former life might be impossible to hide after he’s forced to enroll at the military academy – his special powers are clearly stronger than those of his comrades. As he joins his fellow student soldiers in the desperate battle against the Contaminoid scourge, Layfon must fight to keep the origins of his enhanced abilities a secret, because the truth could tear his team apart.

Woo-hoo! I hope the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya will be showing in my area nearby! If not, the DVD will be mine!!!

I’ll definitely be buying Disappearance on Blu-Ray, but I’m afraid I’ll pass on Unicorn. I’ll have to import it on Blu-Ray.

  • Forgottenme

definitely buying Haruhi not interested in anything else on this list though

Neato Gundam finally! Boo you should have released this before Zeta and Char’s Counter Attack…But I guess better late than never. Also boo you’re splitting into 2 slim packs, that sucks why can’t the first issue have a nice box set. I hate! slim and fat packs. Will you getting ZZ? I sure hope so…what about Turn A and Gundam After War X? Hmmm? And to the person who mentioned Clannad, another anime company in Australia has the rights to it. I guess they will get After Story too.

We would have, but we were not allowed. There was a sort of embargo on us being able to release a bilingual version of the original Gundam until it was done in the USA. Now that this is happening, we can now finally release it.

I’m afraid it’s slimpacks or nothing. You’ll probably find that this will be how it will be released in the US as well.

We can’t confirm any of those just yet, though we do know there’s a planned release for Turn A in the US later this year…but it will be subtitled only, so we may see how the sales run first before committing.
