The Ghost in the Shell Movie Comes to Life!

Despite a somewhat drama filled beginning, Hollywood's Ghost in the Shell live action movie is starting to come together, with a new still being released.

Starring Scarlett Johansson as “Major” Motoko Kusanagi, we now have an image of ScarJo in costume.

It’s a little early to judge how faithful an adaptation it will be, but we’re still excited to see more!

Based on the manga by Masumune Shirow, the Hollywood version of Ghost in the Shell follows “Cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and her intelligence agency, Section 9, thwart cyber criminals and hackers. Now, they must face a new enemy who will stop at nothing to sabotage Hanka Robotic’s Artificial Intelligence technology.”

The cast announced so far include:
ScarJo – Motoko Kusanagi
Pilou Asbæk – Batou
Michael Pitt – The Laughing Man
Takeshi Kitano – Daisuke Aramaki
Juliette Binoche – Dr. Ouelet

It is directed by Rupert Sanders and produced by Avi Arad and Steven Paul.
Filming is taking place in New Zealand and the release is set for 2017.
